A collection of fruit-bearing small trees and shrubs. Includes 5 of each (20 seedlings total): American Plum, Downy Serviceberry, Black Chokeberry and Highbush Cranberry.

American Plum (Prunus americana). Small tree with a broad crown and white, sweet-smelling flowers. Edible fruits are about 1” in diameter. Matures up to 15’ with a spread of 8-10’. Prefers rich, well-drained soil and full sun to part shade. 1-year-old seedlings, 12-18”.

Black Chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa). Upright shrub grows 3-8’ tall and 2-6’ wide. Native to low woods, swamps, bogs and moist thickets. White flowers bloom in spring. Black fruit is tart, but can be used in jams, jellies, syrup, wine, or to feed wildlife. Works well in a hedge or rain garden. 1-year-old seedlings, 12-18”.

Downy Serviceberry (Amelanchier arborea). Early flowering shrub/small tree typically grows to 15-25’, but can reach 40’. Edible berries. Grows easily in average, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade, but can tolerate a range of soils. 1-year-old seedlings, 6-12”.

Highbush Cranberry (Viburnum trilobum). Hardy shrub grows to 8-12’ tall. Clusters of white florets in spring become red berries. Easily grown and tolerates a wide range of soils. Moderate growth rate, growing up to 3 feet per year. 1-year-old seedlings, 12-18”.
