The Hardwood Package includes 5 of each hardwood (25 seedlings): Black Cherry, Black Willow, Red Oak, River Birch, and Sugar Maple. See individual tree species pages for more details.
Seedlings are estimated at 12-18", 1-0.
Ideal conditions if planting all five in same area: full sun with moist soils.
Seedling Summary
Black Cherry: Can grow to 80' tall. Excellent wildlife tree, providing for both pollinators and berry eaters. Edible to humans.
Black Willow: Matures up to 60’ tall. Another tree for pollinators, it also has many human uses including herbal medicine to basket making.
Red Oak: May reach 75' tall. Its acorns are essential for winter survival of many species of wildlife.
River Birch: Matures at 60". Most hardy of the birches and longer living. Also good wildlife tree.
Sugar Maple: Matures at 80’. Another good tree for pollinators and wildlife.

Seedling orders must be picked up in person in late April or early May in Medford or Phillips, Wisconsin. Taylor County LCD does not ship trees, shrubs or planting products to individual customers.
The exact pick-up dates will be sent out in early April by email and/or USPS mail. The tree pick-up schedule has typically been on a Thursday, 3-6 p.m. and Friday, 8-11 a.m., for Medford orders and Friday from 8:30-11 a.m. for Phillips orders. If you are unable to pick up your order during those days/times, you may send another person to the pick-up or contact the Taylor County LCD at 715-748-1469 to make other arrangements.
